The Picco SLR BERD is the culmination of thousands of hours of research and development. We've taken our original Picco 46 Rim (which was raced by pro team Saint Piran at the highest levels) and made it even lighter with no negative impact on stiffness through a mixture of new layups and an improved resin formula.

Laced with BERD PolyLight spokes. These are the lightest spokes on the market, manufactured from ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) that has 12 times the strength-to-weight ratio of steel - and just so happens to float on water.

To round off the ultimate in performance, hubs are the incredible DT Swiss 180.

Our new Picco 46 SLR rim saves a few grams compared to it's predecessor - with some of our tests even showing a small improved stiffness due to the new carbon layup. The Picco 46 rim has long been heralded as the king of the all round. The 46mm deep carbon rims are not 46mm deep by accident. Through our extensive R&D 46mm was the depth at which we can extract maximum aero gains without excessive weight or inferior handling in inclement wind.

Berd spokes are made from an advanced polymer called ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) that has 12 times the strength-to-weight ratio of steel and floats on water. Berd spokes have an improved fatigue life compared to steel and are impervious to the elements. For us this means that we can build a lighter, stronger wheelset.

Finally we’ve invested significantly in tooling to make sure we can marry our pro level rims, to the incredible Berd spokes, and complete the wheels with race ready hubs. In this instance, DT Swiss 240. Nothing but the best.

Aside from the lab and digital testing. Something has happened to all the riders who have been behind the scenes putting the Picco 46 SLR Berds through their paces. They’ve all gone quiet when we’ve asked for them back.
