Pacenti enters a five-year agreement to supply wheels to Saint Piran Pro Cycling.

We are delighted to announce that Saint Piran UCI Continental team will be riding Pacenti wheels under a five-year agreement signed between the two. 

From Saint Piran’s perspective, the timing of the deal is perfect. Saint Piran Team Principal, Richard Pascoe said: 

“We have been looking for a wheel partner for some time now. So when we stumbled across Pacenti, whose UK base is just over the border in Devon, we quickly realised they had something special to offer us as a team. Several big name brands have courted Saint Piran recently and we had been tempted by their offers. Then name of the brand was not our top priority: it was quality, reliability and building a partnership that would contribute to a secure future for the team.”

As Pacenti are a smaller specialist brand, they don’t have huge marketing budgets to throw around. Preferring to work on quality of build and performance, they have quietly crept up the ranks of wheel-builders. Pacenti’s first initiative was to give us a wheel set to ride; they believe in their products and wanted to make sure the team felt that what they could offer was going to deliver for the riders. 

Steve Lampier took the Picco wheels to the Tour Series and a better proving ground for them we could not find. “I ran 60psi last night and they felt amazing, really great wheels”, he said. 

Having a wheel company like Pacenti involved with the team is a real asset for the riders. Being able to work with the builders and have a relationship on the development side is so valuable. Pacenti wheels are truly pushing the development side with wider internal hookless design. This dedication to the future of performance was a big factor for Saint Piran.

For Pacenti, as a growing brand, the resources required to sponsor a team is a big ask. As Pacenti CEO, Luke Humphreys says: 

“Until recently I would have said that we weren’t ready to support a team like Saint Piran. We wouldn’t want to let a team down, as we love cycling and cycle sport too much to allow ourselves to fail. Fortunately, Saint Piran use disc brake bikes, a basket in which we put our development eggs three or four years ago. We are delighted to build wheels for riders’ to race at such a high level. The feedback received from them so far gives credibility to our years of dedication and hard work. 

We have always worked on the key principles of building wheels that perform and are durable. We build wheels for riders because we are riders as well and we know what a good wheel feels and looks like. To attract a team like Saint Piran is the ultimate validation of the quality and performance of our product.

Next stop is the Tour of Britain, where Saint Piran will be fully kitted out with wheels hand-built in Devon. Who says that we can’t build anything in the UK anymore? The southwest is proving we can mix it with the best in the world.
