Continental Nukeproof

Continental Nukeproof Racing is a new UCI downhill team of Irish young guns Chris Cumming and Ronan Dunne, who aim to make waves as first-year Elites.Chris Cumming is a two-time Irish national champion who has been racing since he was 10. He qualified 2nd at World Champs last year in the Juniors and has collected a handful of national and European podiums.

Here at Pacenti we've worked with the lead mechanic for Continental Nukeproof (Chaz Curry) for many years. He's advised us on wheel development and indeed built many of our customers wheelsets.

After the Leogang World Cup weekend he had some rather positive things to say about our wheels:

"Right, I have to say something at this point. I have been a Downhill Mountain Bike Team mechanic for some 13 years now. I have worked with multiple riders and multiple wheel firms (as sponsors), I have NEVER, NOT EVER, encountered a wheel that has such longevity and performance. When I worked with Laurie Greenland there were races when he wrote off a rear wheel EVERY run he did. During the Leogang World Cup last weekend the boys BETWEEN THE TWO OF THEM, wrote off one rim. ONE. Un-chuffing-believable.

If you know anything about Downhill wheels you will also know that low spoke tensions are favoured by the riders. This normally makes a wheel last even less time. The Pacenti rims seem to actually work better with low spoke tensions. An absolute revelation........There are now a fair few World Cup riders who wish they were on these wheels. Shame 😉"

"We’re really looking forward to this year especially being back on Continental & Nukeproof which was the set up I had racing Ripper and Youth. Chaz Curry is on board this year which we’re stoked about as he was my Mechanic and Mentor when I was with WideOpenMag We’ve been chatting with Oliver and Alexander on this year’s tyre range working on feedback and testing, to help develop and get our set up just right. The Mud King was certainly put through its paces over the weekend here in Rostrevor between the snow and muck working fantastically with Mud Hugger Evo."
